The world's loneliest elephant” rescued by world celebrity and flown by Aviacon’s IL76
A 35-year-old elephant named Kaavan was airlifted onboard our IL76TD to a wildlife sanctuary in Cambodia.
Kaavan became known as “the world’s loneliest elephant” after his partner elephant died. Being a social animal, he became depressed, and his health began to cause serious concerns.
The famous American singer Cher, together with the activists of the charity Foundation Four Paws International, campaigned for his freedom for years.
Finally Kaavan’s life in chains finished once the elephant made his journey onboard Ilyushin and landed in Cambodia, greeted by Cher and Kaavan’s human friends. In the sanctuary Kaavan can freely walk and communicate with other elephants.
IL-76 is perfectly suited for the transportation of such a bulky live cargo as in its pressurized cargo compartment it is possible to maintain a pressure level and temperature required for live beings.
It was not the first time when we dealt with transporting animals, including large-sized ones - dolphins, horses, rhinos, etc. And this time, according to the crew, there were no difficulties with this special passenger as well. Kaavan spent his journey in a tailor-made container, all together weighted 9.8 ton, and felt fine.
The elephant was accompanied by animal rights activists and a doctor. During the flight, passenger catering services was also provided - Kaavan was fed with sugar cane.
Aviacon Zitotrans is happy and proud to be a part of this long awaited release, that finally happened due to the endeavors of the animal rights community and financial support of the world-known celebrity.
